The average inflation rate in March was 4.03 per cent, with the highest rates reported in Rakhine and Mandalay and the lowest in the Union Territory, according to the figures released by the Central Statistical Organization.
Until March of this year, the average inflation rate in Kachin was 5.27 per cent, 4.21 per cent in Kayah, 3.79 per cent in Kayin, 2.69 per cent in Chin, 2.77 per cent in Sagaing, 4.79 per cent in Tanintharyi, 3.82 per cent in Bago, 3.46 per cent in Magway, 3.58 per cent in Mandalay, 4.50 per cent in Mon, 8.24 per cent in Rakhine, 2.97 per cent in Yangon, 4.70 per cent in Shan, 4.80 per cent in Ayeyarwady and 0.55 per cent in the Union Territory.
The average inflation rates in March are: 3.12 per cent in Yangon, 7.26 per cent in Mandalay and 3.49 per cent in Nay Pyi Taw.
In November, 2012, the CSO conducted a household income and consumption survey on 32,669 households in 82 townships across the country.
According to inflation rates calculated using 2006 as a base year, the average annual inflation rate in the 2011-12 financial year was 2.82 per cent, 2.85 per cent in 2012-13, 5.72 per cent in 2013-14 and 5.90 per cent in 2014-15.
Now 2012 is used as a base year to calculate inflation rate.
