met Min Khant Thu and Thant
Tay Zar, two 12-year-olds who
will be participating in the Football
For Friendship (F4F) programme
in Moscow, yesterday
at the Embassy of Russia in Yangon,
according to the Myanmar
During the meeting, he explained to Min Khant Thu and Thant Tay Zar that the F4F programme aims to better social relations among children from around the world. The Russian Ambassador then congratulated the two children for their participation in the global event.
He also pointed out that Myanmar is a country which is enthusiastic in the development of football. The ambassador also mentioned that Russia is preparing for the hosting of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The two children will be part of the 32 International Teams of Friendship that play against each other in the Gazprom Football for Friendship International Championship. Children from 211 countries and regions are participating not only as players, but in other roles as well.
Min Khant Thu will be a defender on the Gharial team, while Thant Tay Zar will act as a Young Journalist in the programme.
