The Ministry of Construction has narrowed its list to three preferred bidders for a mega project, named New Mandalay Resort City, which will be developed on 10,000 acres of land near No. 21 mile post on Mandalay-Lashio Main Road in Pyi Oo Lwin, Mandalay Region.
The ministry shortlisted six companies on May 11, and then cut the list down to three preferred bidders: Khin Myanmar Development Co., Ltd; Central Irrawaddy Development Co., Ltd; and Shwe Taung Development Co., Ltd. They were chosen by Yadanarbon New City Project Committee.
The ministry is planning to implement the project with an aim of creating a green, clean, and smart city as soon as possible. The ministry has not yet announced when the project will be implemented. The mega project will include various industries like IT, agriculture, businesses, health, education services, hotels and tourism, according to U Thet Naing, Director of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (Mandalay Region).
The project will be implemented with three phases: first phase will be implemented on 2,200 acres of land, second phase on 2,919 acres of land, and third phase on 4,774 acres of land.
