The 2018 FIFA World Cup is the 21st FIFA World Cup is currently ongoing in Russia. It started June 14 and will end with the final match on 15 July 2018.
This is the first World Cup to be held in Eastern Europe, and for the first time the tournament takes place on two continents – Europe and Asia. At an estimated cost of over $14.2 billion, it is the most expensive World Cup ever. A total of 64 matches will be played in 12 venues located in 11 cities. The final will take place on 15 July at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
1 million fans have descended on Russia for the games with singing, chanting, “thunder-clapping” and drinking beer. A lot of beer, to the point that Russia is running low on the golden delight! Well, my friend, you don’t have to say do svidaniya, “goodbye,” to your home and go see the games in person. Why? Because several local watering holes will be showing the games live, and we’ve got you covered with a short list of six hot spots.
At the Rose Garden Hotelyou can all the games live on big screens. This garden is open late — till 2am — so you don’t miss the action, and features happy hour during the events. The Sedona Hotel Yangonis hosting the Sedona Goes World Cup from 6pm - 9pm. They feature a big LED screen, special drink offers, games, and a lucky draw.
The Mahlzeit restaurantis holding the Mahlzeit & Atlas Fan Fest - Live From Russia. They too have a large HD screen paired with drink specials, and national snacks. It might be the place to go cheer on the defending champs Germany. The Gusto Coffee Pub is “steaming” the games live. Apparently they stay open till 3:30am, so it's probably a good thing they’re grounded in coffee.
The Novotel YangonMax’s Time Out Sports Bar will be watching the matches live on big screens, featuring buy 1 get 1 all draught beer glasses on every football match! Alternatively, you can book “The Stadium,” a private room that can hold 9-12 people. The last location we will highlight is Babett Eatery & Bar. This contemporary establishment throws down a mean burger and $1 beers during every match, and puts you in front of three huge screens to cheer on your favorite team.
These are certainly not the only locations to watch the World Cup, but you won't go wrong here. So grab some friends, your favorite jersey, and enjoy the games!
