The third meeting of Union Peace Conference also known as the 21st Century Panglong Conference is going to commence at MICC-2 in Nay Pyi Taw on July 11 and will end on July 16.
The ethnic leaders of Northern Alliance have been in Nay Pyi Taw on July 10 to attend the third meeting.
Major-General Guan Maw of KIO/KIA told the journalists at the hotel that he wanted to give a message coming there with expectations. They had not chosen delegates because they couldn’t hold the FPNCC meeting. But he came there after choosing the delegates following the later meeting.
The journalists asked Major-General Guan Maw the role of China as to the attending of the third meeting. Major-General Guan Maw replied that China took up security for Northern Alliance to be able to attend the meeting from the second meeting of the Union Peace Conference. Their desire of attending the third meeting was not because of China’s pressure.
“What we hope for the meeting will be the key factor how to improve our connections. We hope that clashes will be fewer,” said Major-General Guan Maw.
Similarly, Mr. Sun Guoxiang, Special Envoy of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, who acted as the negotiator for Northern Alliance, has been in Nay Pyi Taw on July 10.
The leaders of the government, the parliament, the Tatmadaw, political parties and ethnic NCA signatories are also going to attend the third meeting of Union Peace Conference also known as the 21st Century Panglong Conference.
