The 1990 Lower House representatives who won seats in the 1990 general elections joining hands with allied political groups are going to establish a political party with the purpose of participating in the 2020 elections, said David Hla Myint, a representative of the 1990 Lower House.
The remarks came from the conference organized by the 1990 Lower House representatives and allied political groups held at Yudathan College in Yangon on August 7.
“Now we just declare our situation. We will have to discuss how to do next. We hope we will name our political party in October. We have a plan to apply for party registration late 2018,” said David Hla Myint.
The 1990 Lower House representatives will take over the leadership role following the establishment of the political party said David Hla Myint.
The 1990 Lower House representatives in collaboration with ethnic leaders who are members of representing Lower House, ethnic political parties, external political partners of National League for Democracy, intellectuals and intelligentsia and the people will participate in the 2020 elections, said David Hla Myint.
The 2008 Constitution resulted in deterioration in all aspects of the country. It is impossible for a single parliament and a government to change the situation, said the 1990 Lower House representatives.
We can change only with the cooperation of allied political groups outside the parliament and the people. It is not easy for the current parliament to change the situation joining hands with political groups. The current parliament is not different from that of the previous military junta. No changes have been found, said the 1990 Lower House representatives.
Now we need to have a parliament capable of making changes so that we can overcome such difficult situation. We feel it is our duty to do joining hands with allied political groups. We will continue to launch unfinished democracy revolution, said the 1990 Lower House representatives.
